We are responsible for the islands of Rhodes as well as Kos and the other smaller islands of the Dodecanese region. Although based on Rhodes, we make regular trips to Kos to meet tour operators, local authorities and to deal with any serious cases. Over half a million British tourists visit Rhodes and Kos every summer, while we estimate that there are approximately 3000 British nationals residing on a permanent or semi-permanent basis in the area. We work in close cooperation with tour operators and the local authorities to ensure that all British nationals receive the best possible assistance in cases of emergency.
Following on from the Foreign and Commonwealth Office Consular Strategy (2013-2016), which was launched in 2013 by the Foreign Secretary, our focus is to offer as much assistance as we can to the most vulnerable.
All UK passports are now issued by Her Majesty’s Passport Office in the UK. Passport applications from Greece must be applied and paid for online using the online application service. Full details on how to apply or renew your passport are available through the following link: www.gov.uk/overseas-passports. The Passport Adviceline is (0044) 300 222 0000.
In the event of an emergency, we can issue Emergency Travel Documents.
We organise two annual events which are open to the public. Each November we help to organise the Remembrance Day Service which is held at the Commonwealth War Grave Cemetery at Karakonero, near Rhodes Town. In December we host a Mince Pie Morning at our office in the centre of town. We always look forward to seeing lots of familiar and new faces at these occasions.
