The English Speaking Association of the Multicultural Centre Rhodes (The 'English School')
The Multicultural Centre of Rhodes (S.P.O.R.) is a multicultural association for bi-lingual children. The English-Speaking Association comes under its umbrella and provides English lessons, not as a foreign language but as a mother tongue for bilingual children who come from a home where English is spoken as a native language and where the member parent holds a passport of an English-speaking country. The 'school' and lessons are non-profit making. It is NOT a 'frontisterio'.
The school accepts students from five years old (kindergarten) until eighteen. Examinations at various levels - KET/PETS/Lower/Proficiency - will be taken as and when advised by the class teachers.
English-speaking students are encouraged to stay in touch with their English-speaking culture through Halloween, Christmas and Easter parties and events, jumble sales, sports day picnics etc.
Parents are expected and required to be involved and take an active interest in the 'school'. As members of the school/association parents are obliged to participate in all activities and to contribute to and to support all events. Activities and fundraising events are the means by which the school is supported financially with the aim of keeping the tutorial costs as low as possible.
